Our Turnaround Point, Really Tobago Cays
St Vincent & the Grenadines At some point we had to turnaround to head back to the US, but the Grenadines are...
We were so excited to be going to the Cannes Film Festival. Sadly, we were delayed by weather and arrived two days after the festival ended. But, maybe it was better. The crowds were gone. We didn’t see any celebrities, but we did see why they all flock here year after year.
Cannes is yet another beautiful little town on the Cote d’ Azur. We walked the beach, hiked the hill, saw the view and toured the town. It was all lovely. But our biggest entertainment was watching the mega yachts dock just across from Berkeley East. Boats that were 150 feet long, weighing 400 tons, spinning on a dime, just inches from BE’s bow, squeezing into places that didn’t even look large enough for a dinghy. It was amazing to watch.
The Islands
Another surprise were the islands off Cannes, Ste Marguerite and Ste Honorat. Just two miles from our berth in Cannes harbor, we anchored BE and looked back at the shoreline.
What a different world this was. The islands were peaceful, with pine trees and walking trails, lots of wildlife, a fort and a couple of restaurants.
Ste Honorat is home to Cistercian monks who welcome visitors to their beautiful sanctuary. It was just the break we were looking for after the hustle of the Monaco Grand Prix
