A Whale of a Crossing – St Barth’s to Saba to the BVI

English Harbor, Antigua
While we were in English Harbor, some of the Atlantic Rowing Challenge boats arrived. These 24-foot boats are rowed by 1, 2 or 4 people across the Atlantic Ocean! Everyone in English Harbor got into the celebration with horns and flares as a boat would arrive. Crowds lined the docks and it was interesting to see what rowing for 68+ days at sea can do to you. This is a real extreme challenge. Most of the participants could not stand on land once they arrived.
Debbie and Lee, our friends from EDS, joined us in English Harbor for a few days. We took a quick day sail, but the weather wasn’t great so we spent most of their visit touring Antigua via rental car. One afternoon we drove over to Run Away beach on the North West side of the island. The wind was howling, but the beach was nice and we found a place that makes good rum punch.
