Reaching a Goal
Dubrovnik, Croatia To many, it may seem that we wander (or sail) aimlessly, from place to place. But we really do...

On just our fourth stop in Italy, we had already found a place that we could call home – Santa Margherita Liguere. Actually, two places, we think we could live in Portofino as well. Both are stunningly beautiful towns. Santa Margherita is a beach town, while Portofino is, well, Portofino. During our first walk around Santa Margherita a woman heard us talking and asked if we were American. After a brief conversation, we learned that she was raised in Santa Rosa, California, and lived there for thirty years. Then she moved to Santa Margherita and has been there for 55 years. We can understand why.
We walked five kilometers around the point to Portofino with very high expectations of this famous hideaway for the rich and famous. We were not disappointed. One of our friends who went with us summed the feeling up perfectly when he said, “I can’t stop smiling.”
