In route to the Azores
Unfortunately we were so busy while in Bermuda that we left without doing a blog update. This entry is being sent remotely from Berkeley East, 900 miles off the US East coast. In short, we loved Bermuda. It is a beautiful, clean and the people are extremely friendly. (We will post more photos when we have a land connection.) After several days touring the island and participating in ARC Europe Boat Rally activities, we set sail with our crew, Jerry and Selwyn. The rally began inside the St. George Harbor, when twenty-some boats hoisted their sails and jockeyed for position, sailing through a very small cut in the reef, out into the Atlantic. It was very exciting and with some careful maneuvering, Berkeley East was one of the first boats out. The conditions were perfect, and have remained so, with blues skies and 18 knots on the beam. We planned 15 days for the 1800+ mile passage, but sailed 190 miles in the first 24 hours, so we have high hopes that these conditions will continue. 1600 miles and counting.
