Anchoring in France.

Our anchor appears to be working again, setting on the first try!

When we were in the Caribbean, I had commented that the French boats tended to anchor very close, too close in most cases. While the captains appeared very competent, they would always try to squeeze into a space like parallel parking a car.

Well now that we are in France it is totally different, the French boats anchor way off, and do not try to squeeze into tight spaces.

So what’s the difference?

I can only assume it is that they are anchoring their personal boats and not a chartered boat. Whatever the reason, everyone has been very cautious and courteous. And as one of the only American flagged boats around, we get a lot of interest and questions.
