The Three Fingers
24 June 2014 | Chalkidiki, Greece A calm marina with a beautiful beach, a great fish restaurant and a little train...
Since arriving in Tortola, we have been cruising around the BVI, enjoying many different islands including Virgin Gorda, Cooper Island, Salt island, Peter Island, Norman Island and Jost Van Dyke.
We dove the wreck of the Rhone, a 300′ Royal Mail Ship sunk in 1867 where we ran across this four-foot’ barracuda.
Hung out on the Willy T, a 98′ wooden ship where women sometimes take there clothes off and jump off the upper deck for a free t-shirt. No, Mary didn’t get drunk enough to get a t-shirt. Spent a couple days on little Jost Van Dyke, snorkeling, hanging out at Foxy’s, a local beach bar and enjoying the bubbly pool, a natural swimming hole.
While in Jost, we moored right next to a fishing ground. After watching the pelicans dive bomb the water all day, we decided to take our chance and go snorkeling. With Pelicans hitting the water right next to us, we came across a unbelievable sight, millions and millions of small fish (3″ – 5″) blanketed the water. Below them were larger fish and we came across some very large tarpin (over four feet and 100lbs!), all in about five feet of water. We had to be careful,l as our presence did not deter the pelicans that would dive from about 30′ up right next to us to get a mouthful of fish.
